I think it is important even from the international community to follow this close, because without a doubt it will be have some consequences for us as well. We already know how much such censorships are affecting the way “Hentai Anime” is being produced that many of the fun aspects of it have been taken away from such bills.

But, not everything is dark! There are some producers that are willing to fight this to the end.

NEC technology developed in Japan will help content creators identify when illegal videos are uploaded to the internet. From what I can understand this technology is similar to YouTube ContentId but a little more aggressive where it would scan any video that is upload online not just restricted to YouTube.

NEC will be testing of the product on May12 to July 14, 2010 with 13 different methods of embedding video.

AnimeAnime.Biz points out that this technology will help struggling video companies to gain back some lost profit from illegal filesharers. They also question what will happen after such lawbreakers are found and they point out that it is up for debate. We know how Japanese companies have been aggressively taking down from Anime trailers to just a few seconds clips referencing to some Anime or something that they do not want to world to see.

Needless to say, the filesharers will need to be more careful in the future since their videos will now carry a special fingerprint that will make them traceable easier. The article does not say if these videos will be fingerprinted when they are transmitted over cable television or just when they are released on DVD.
